Teaching Philosophies

Guiding Principles

1. THRIVING STUDENTS.

The well-being of students is my top priority. I aim to create a safe, calming and positive space that encourages each student to grow in their own time.

2. HOLISTIC EDUCATION.

I believe in developing well-rounded students through music education. In addition to piano playing skills, I teach problem solving, creative thinking, and grit.

3. EVERY STUDENT IS UNIQUE.

No two students are alike and thus the way I teach is tailored to individual learning styles, goals, strengths and areas for improvement. This means that every student receives a custom selection of pieces to work on, individualized feedback, and a calibrated pace of teaching.

Teaching Style

1. STUDENT CENTERED.

I love listening to my students. I encourage them to take initiative in their own learning and to be wholly themselves at their lessons.

2. FUN.

I love to tell silly stories and ill-timed jokes at my own expense. When the learning process gets tough, I enjoy a shared laugh with my students as we face the challenge together.

3. MODERN.

l incorporate current tech, repertoire by underrated and emerging composers, and  pedagogy based on new research on music education and music performance practice.
