Teaching Philosophies
1. THRIVING STUDENTS.
The well-being of my students is important to me. I aim to create a safe, calming and encouraging space for students to learn in.
2. EVERY STUDENT IS UNIQUE.
I adapt my teaching to suit unique learning styles, goals, strengths and areas for improvement. Each of my students receives a custom selection of pieces to work on, individualized feedback, and a calibrated pace of teaching.
3. HOLISTIC MUSIC EDUCATION.
I develop well-rounded students through music education. In addition to technical piano playing skills, I teach problem solving and emotional regulation skills.
Teaching Style
1. STUDENT CENTERED.
Lessons are not about me, the teacher. They are about the student. I listen deeply to what my students say both verbally and non-verbally, accept who they are and what they wish to learn, and respond with complementary energy.
2. RELEVANT.
I enjoy teaching repertoire by underrated and emerging composers. I love to inspire students with interesting musical anecdotes and social media videos.
3. RELAXED.
l teach serious concepts related to Classical music with a light touch. I tell ill-timed jokes, often at my own expense and aim to put students at ease when tackling challenging learning concepts together.
