Andrea’s Guiding Principles
1. THRIVING STUDENTS.
The well-being of my students is my top priority. I aim to create a safe space for learning that encourages them to grow to their potential on their own terms.
2. HOLISTIC EDUCATION.
I believe that all knowledge is interconnected and that well rounded students can be developed through the medium of music. In addition to piano playing skills, I aim to teach musicianship, problem solving and creative thinking skills and encourage joyful exploration into other disciplines.
3. EVERY STUDENT IS UNIQUE.
No two students are alike and therefore the way I teach is tailored to individual learning styles, goals, strengths and areas for improvement. This means that every student receives a custom selection of pieces to work on from me, individualized feedback, and the pace at which I teach each student is never the same as it is constantly calibrated to maximize each student’s success.
Andrea’s Teaching Style
1. STUDENT CENTERED.
I encourage students to engage in their lessons, to take initiative in their own piano learning, and to express their individuality.
2. FLEXIBLE.
I listen carefully to what my students communicate to me and then direct learning accordingly through a combination of structured and spontaneous lessons.
3. FRESH.
l incorporate up to date tech, repertoire by underrated and emerging composers, and relevant ideas from music education research and music performance practice into my teaching.
